Brenneman Douses Flames
In a heated game, the Woodstock Sportswear PeeWee Titans managed to slip one past the Ayr Flames for the only goal scored in two games between the teams.

"Feel the Heat" is the key phrase that comes from the fans on the Ayr side of the arena at every game.  This wasn't the way the game would go today.  It was the Titans that turned up the heat and walked away with a win in their final game in the Round Robin playoffs.

It was a slow start for the locals in the first.  Some slips and misses and a few shots on net.  Nothing was getting past either goaltender.  The game seemed to be in slow motion, things were moving, just not very quickly.

The second seemed to make the teams come alive.  Jackson Stolz was keeping the Flames from going near the net, stealing the puck with every chance he got.  CJ Myers would get a hold of the puck and take it down past the lines, getting a shot on net each time but the Ayr goalie was just too quick today.  It was a back and forth period, similar to a tennis match.  The teams are evenly matched which makes for a good hockey game.  The Titans kept pounding away at the net, hoping for a hole to put it through.  Bayslee Cressman caught a pass from Aaron Schlosser, turned around and tried to get it through the goalie's short side but his stick somehow teleported over to the side of the net to stop the shot.  End of the second and there was still no score.

Last week when these two teams met, the game ended with neither time putting a number on the scoreboard.  Many in the Tavistock arena thought that it would be the same ending today.  The third period showed both teams playing with everything they had.  With just under 5 minutes left in the game Drew Brenneman gave the local fans something to cheer about.  Bayslee Cressman tipped it to Jayden Marriott who then passed it to Brenneman.  He took the shot and the puck bounced out just as fast as it went in, what a shot!  If it would have been any more to the right it would have hit the post.
The Titans knew that the Flames would turn up the heat, wanting to at least tie the game and get the point.  Tavistock was all over the ice, the forwards were playing defense when required and vice versa.  Shortly after the Titan goal, the local crowd held their breath as a shot from an Ayr player went just wide of the net.  With a rush of action, Sam Leis and Owen McArthur both had scoring chances to register the insurance marker.  The Flames goalie would not let this happen.

With 54 seconds left in the game, and Tavi having the lone goal, the Ayr coach called a time out hoping to regroup his players.  Once action was back on, any hope of pulling the goalie was extinguished as the Titans dominated the puck in their end.  They finally got it across the red line with 10 seconds left to play, and they managed to get a decent shot on net.  Alex Marriott was not going to let his shut out be burned out and easily stopped the puck.  The Titans end the round robin with another win, 1-0.

The PeeWee Titans move on to the Finals in the 'D' Division.  Way to Go Tavi!!!
