"Silver Stick Finalists in Wingham"
This past week the Delles Carrier/New Life Mills Midget Reps competed in there Regional Silver Stick.

Game 1 vs the rivals from Kincardine proved to be no different then usual, a fast, physical end to end game. With both teams trading scoring opportunities quickly the Titans found themselves with some PP time early on some undisciplined pentaly's by Kincardine and Tristan Wilhelm was able to take advantage on the PP to take a 1-0 lead through 1 period. The Second period was much of the same until with hard work down low Mike Johnson was able to take advantage of a juicy rebound and punch one behind the Kincardine keeper for a 2-0 lead. With some hard pressure by Kincardine in the last 1/2 of the game the boys dug deep and with shot blocks and 2nd efforts they were able to take the game 2-0. Game 2 on a stormy wednesday night was against Mount Forest, As both teams left there legs in there cars it was a game that started slow with no flow, it wasn't until midway through the second period the boys were able to break the goose egg and get on the board which seemed to give some life to the bench and every one joined in as the boys went on to net 4 more and take a 5-0 win. Game 3 was against Mitchell on Saturday morning and with both teams being 2-0 going into the game it was winner takes 1st place and a berth in one of Sunday's Semi Final matches. This game being played on the small Blyth ice was face and physical with both teams knowing what was at stake and didn't want to give an inch. Discipline by the Titans proved to be the main factor in the game as the Titans took full advantage with 2 pp goals, even one that Derek Hyde looked like Doug Gilmour faking everyone out behind the net and tucking it home short side which proved to be the clincher in s 3-0 Win. Through round robin play going 3-0 and not allowing a goal it was off to Sunday Morning to face arch rivals from Twin Center. With some banged up bodies it was going to be an adversity test for the boys from Tavi and quickly they showed they were up for the task, just a few minutes in Gibson Lamond took a great pass up the middle from Justin Wagler and was able to drive his way to the net and put one top corner. Shortly after that it was the Titans that found themselves in Pentaly trouble which Twin Center took full advantage of scoring twice to take a 2 - 1 lead. Being down for the 1st time all tournament the team needed a spark and it was Bantam call up Mitchell McKay that was able to lift the boys as his solo effort down low and grabbing his own rebound and tucking it under the bar to even the score at 2. The 3rd period was back and forth until Derek Hyde sent a laser just inside the post late in the period and with Mitch McKay adding an EN goal it was a 4-2 victory and off to the Finals against Ayr.
The Final was two teams that had not much fuel left in the tanks and it showed early and often and with the tight game going both ways it was Ayr who struck 1st late in the 2nd period which even with a late burst by the boys held up to be the winning goal giving the boys a 1-0 loss in the finals.
Job well done to the whole team....Superb goaltending by Jensen Vanboekel and Brandon McIntosh
