What a Weekend
On Thursday night the Titans arrived in St Catherines to compete in the first annual Silver Stick for bantam Local League teams. After watching Canada lose in the shootout to the US it was off to bed with a 7 o'clock am first game not very far away.

First up on the agenda was a match against a Mt Brydges team that had 3 losses all year. After 1 period Mt Brydges had a 1-0 lead , it looks like the Titans needed the first period to wake up because it was a different team from then on. Unassisted shorthanded goals by Mackayla and Jayden gave the Titans a 2-1 lead but Mt Brydges tied it up making it a 2-2 score going into the 3rd. Mt Brydges made it 3-2 but then Jackson Stolz with his first as a Titan tied it up once more with the assist going to Kaleb setting things up for a wild finish. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be as Mt Brydges once again took the lead and then scored an empty netter for a 5-3 loss for the Titans. Jayden was awarded the player of the game.
The Titans didn't have long to hang their heads because after breakfast and a short rest it was back to the arena to take on the Lefroy Icrbreakers. Once again Tavi fell behind early and after 1 it was 1-0 Icebreakers. Tavi started quickly in the 2nd and 13 seconds in Mackayla scored with Jackson Sim getting the assist the tie was short lived however as Lefroy scored 13 seconds after that. they then scored 3 more for a 5-1 lead after 2. Jayden gave the Titans some hope with another unassisted goal but the Icebreakers got 1 more for a 6-2 victory. Mackayla was given the player of the game for her hard work at both ends of the ice. Time to let the kids    [and parents] have some fun and forget about hockey for a while. One of the best things about this tournament was the amount of free time that we had so the rest of Friday was spent sightseeing and relaxing by the pool.
Saturday morning it was back to the arena with a game against the host team from Pelam we also welcomed Owen and Corson who joined us after the AE team was eliminated. The extra bodies seemed to help as the Titans were a different team but none of that would have mattered if Colin wouldn't have stood on his head making one save after another. The game remained scoreless  until 5 minuets left in the 3rd when Jayden got his 3rd of the tournament with assists going to Jacob and Kaleb. Colin shut the door the rest of the way earning the victory the shutout and the player of the game. With the win that left us in a 3 way tie for 2nd but because of goal differential we fell to 3rd place and into the B division.
Off to the semi finals with a match against the BCH Icedogs . For once it was the Titans who started strong and let the other team try and catch us . It was obvious Corson wasn't ready to go home as he got 2 first period goals with assists going to Ashlie and Kaleb giving Tavi a 2-0 lead after 1. Corson wasn't done their however as he got 2 more in the second with assists going to Mackayla and Sam for a 4-0 lead after 2. After Kaleb scored to start off the 3rd with assists going to Jackson and Nick the only question left was would Alex be able to get the Titans back to back shutouts. But seriously was there ever any doubt the forwards were doing a great job backchecking the D was clearing away the front of the net and if they did get past Alex had things well under control giving the Titans a well earned 5-0 victory and a trip to the finals with Corson getting player off the game. So that meant some more R and R with some going to the pool and some to Bass Pro Shop then supper pool and a good night sleep.
It was a chance for some payback as we were up against Lefroy once again for the final. Unfortunately we were back to our old habits once again and before the game was 3 minuets old the score was 2-0 Lefroy and that was likely the game because after that the game was quite even the Titans felt they got one in the second and if there was video replay the score would have been 2-1 and maybe a different outcome but Lefroy got another in the 3rd and then an empty netter for a 4-0 win. Nicole was given the player of the game not just for her efforts in that game but the whole tournament. Often players are overlooked if they don't get points but Nicoles hard work was not. At the risk of sounding like a sore loser I will mention one other thing of the 10 goals Lefroy scored against us one player had 6 goals and 2 assists and another player had 3 goals and 2 assists I guess the coaching staff didn't do a very good job of scouting . Having said that Lefroy was a good team and seemed like a good bunch of kids and coaches.
I want to thank Craig for getting us in the tournament as it was an experience none of the kids will soon forget . It was great for a LL team to be treated and to feel like a rep team at least once in their lives.
