The
Bluemont Excavating Novice Rep team brought home the silver medal this past
weekend from the Ryan O’Reilly Youth Challenge Cup Tournament! On Friday, the
team began their tournament facing the home town Goderich team. The boys came
out flying and mid-way through the first found the back of the net. The goals
kept on coming and the team finished with a 7-0 win.
Marshall McKay led the offensive and earned player of the game. Grayden McRoberts picked up his first shut-out. Game two went on Saturday against Wingham. This game saw the opposing team take the lead. The titans battled back but came up short with a 3-2 loss. Tyler LaFleur’s great offensive plays earned him player of the game. In the third game, the team skated to a 7-2 victory over the Cayuga Stars. Brady Kuiack was awarded player of the game for his offensive efforts. This put the team in second place in their division and advanced them to the B finals against Flesherton. The boys battled hard all game but in the end, fell to a strong Flesherton team 8-3. Drew Roth played a great defensive game earning player of the game. Jay Alexander and Cam Munro were awarded the hardest working player award for their outstanding efforts in all four games. Point getters in the tournament were Marshall McKay 6(3), Jay Alexander 6(1), Tyler LaFleur 3, Cam Munro 2(2), Drew Roth 1(1), Brady Kuiack 1, Jackson MacMillan (2), Dylan McCann (1), and Evan Nahrgang (1). Congratulations boys on a great first tournament of the season!
