Novice Reps are Goderich Tournament Champions!!
The Bluemont Excavating Novice Reps brought home the gold medal from the Ryan O’Reilly Youth Challenge Cup Tournament this past weekend. The team began their tournament facing the Aylmer Flames. The Titans got on the board within the first minute and never looked back finishing with a 9-1 victory. Jaxx Witzel earned player of the game for his great offensive plays and first goal of the season.

Game two saw the team line up against the Ilderton Jets. The boys came out skating hard and put forth a solid team effort to finish with a 4-3 win. Spencer Otto was solid between the pipes earning him player of the game. In game 3, the Titans faced off with the Dunville Mudcats and skated to a 4-2 win. Marshall McKay lead the offence and earned player of the game. This advanced the Titans to the A finals against Langton. This game saw lots of end to end action with Tavistock taking the early lead. Langton battled back and after three periods of play the score was tied. This sent the game into a 3-on-3 sudden death overtime. Tavistock won the opening face-off and 12 seconds later put the puck in the back of the net to take the game 6-5! Keagan McMahon lead the offence and Jackson MacMillan played a great defensive game earning both of them player of the game.

Point getters in the tournament were Keagan McMahon 10 (5), Marshall McKay 8 (2), Camden Bartlett 3, Dylan McCann 1(1), Jaxx Witzel 1(1), Peyton Christie (5), Ryan Zehr (3), Jackson MacMillan (1), and Carter Cook (1). Calvin Verkuyl and Luka Verkuyl were strong on the Titans’ blue line, making many great defensive plays. Strong offence came from Evan Nahrgang throughout the tournament.

Congratulations boys on a great first tournament of the season!
